Convenience gym
Rizap Group, a Japanese fitness club operator, expands its "convenience gym" business to China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and offers additional services -
personal care (such as nail printing)
laundry
games
karaoke (I guess it could be fun to combine an interest in fitness and music)
Rizap's chocoZAP is a chain of unattended fitness facilities that offer unlimited use of training machines 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for about $19 per month.
Perhaps this convenience concept encourages people to visit the gym and clean their clothes while they exercise. Though I wonder about the games… I feel like anything that can be done to connect fitness activities with gamification is helpful.
Anytime Fitness is a US gym franchise that aims to have 3,000 locations in Japan, so I wonder how the competition will sort itself out.
